The story “The Hate List” written by Jennifer Brown has such an amazing example of character development when following the main character. This story follows the life of Valerie(Val) who is a dynamic character and follows through her emotions and how she grows throughout the story. In the beginning Valerie was very intimidated. Her thought process and decisions were always based around fear itself. This fear was caused by the shooting incident caused by her boyfriend. She was quiet and very depressed, she constantly wanted to keep to herself away from others. Then as the story progresses it becomes a more dynamic change within the way she interacts with each character, for example her mother and father. Towards the middle she became a little more comfortable and tried to get out of her comfort zone. Then finally towards the end, she was much more open and was finally able to move on from her past with her boyfriend Nick and the tragic incident.
