Compare and Contrast to Another Book

The book The Hate List can be compared to the book The Hate U Give, written by Angie Thomas. I will be comparing and contrasting these two books because they both are fictional stories written and inspired by serious real world issues and events that take place to this day. The way that these two books are similar is because they both give you a first person point of view from teenage girls who experience traumatizing events. The events that they experience are very real world issues and are very dangerous. Both stories go into deep analysis of their thought process and how they interact with their families. You get a understanding of the aftermath of the situations and how they both deal with the effects. Also, each character goes through arguments with their close friends and lose a close person that they loved dearly. But the differences of each book are very different. In the book, The Hate List, we follow Valerie after the school shooting event. We see how she overcomes getting the blame over her boyfriend being the school shooter. Her family isn’t as close and she feels alone. Then, in the story , The Hate U Give, it’s talks about the issues of racial discrimination. This is a very important thing in the world, book shows how Starr wants to make a difference and help. Starr, unlike Valarie, is very close to her family and is more selfless than Val.
